Volunteer Information:

Volunteers are the backbone of our program. Mainly they serve as instructors, horse leaders and side walkers who help the riders while they are on horseback. In addition, volunteers are welcome to help with fundraising activities, administrative work and maintenance projects around the farm. While it is not possible for us to pay our volunteers, you will receive a reward that money cannot buy - to see the rider's happiness when he or she rides. Without volunteers, they would not be able to ride and it is something they truly love. Many of our riders express their gratitude by hugging their horse after each lesson. This is how we feel about each volunteer who gives time each week to make this program a success.

Volunteer requirements – A volunteer must be at least 14 years old and physically fit to walk at least an hour and occasionally jog. Anyone younger than 14 can help as a groom or with barn chores based on their experience with horses.

Volunteer training is held at least once a year, typically in the spring. This training lasts a couple of hours and covers the important aspects of leading and handling the horse as well as assisting the riders. Safety of all involved is heavily emphasized. If the need exists, additional training sessions will be scheduled accordingly.

The following forms are required to be filled out by anyone wishing to volunteer. If you have any questions about them, please contact us.
